The Human Resource Associate is a key member of the Human Resources team and supports a wide range of HR and payroll functions for YDE and ALTEC operations. This position works closely with the Human Resource Manager and other HR team members to ensure accurate payroll processing, employee record maintenance, benefits administration, compliance support, and employee relations assistance.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Process and review employee information in the AOD timekeeping system and ADP payroll system for all Indiana plants, including:
- Employee status changes
- Vacation and personal day requests
- Payroll updates and adjustments
- Coordinate and process ALTEC bi-weekly payroll, including:
- Reviewing timecards and employee punches
- Finalizing payroll information
- Submitting payroll to the payroll provider
- Coordinate monthly benefit eligibility updates for new ALTEC employees.
- Audit ALTEC benefit invoices for accuracy.
- Maintain ALTEC employee files and assist with maintaining Patrick Metals employee files.
- Assist with employee meetings, training sessions, and annual Open Enrollment activities.
- Communicate company policies and procedures to employees, supervisors, and managers.
- Assist with processing:
- Child support orders
- Garnishments
- Employment verifications
- Prepare and distribute weekly YDE payroll reports and employee payroll documentation to supervisors.
- Assist with annual ACA (Affordable Care Act) setup and reporting within the ADP system.
- Coordinate tracking of ALTEC employee FMLA and medical leaves, including benefits-related impacts.
- Maintain I-9 compliance records and annual updates.
- Track and review quarterly ALTEC safety and attendance bonus programs.
- Assist with maintaining employee attendance and policy violation records.
- Serve as backup support for ALTEC and Patrick payroll processing as needed.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including documentation and complaint records when necessary.
- Support YDE safety training initiatives as needed.
- Coordinate annual employee programs and certifications, including:
- Hearing tests
- First responder updates
- Forklift training
- Maintain knowledge of labor laws, HR practices, and company policies.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- 4–6 years of experience in Human Resources and payroll administration preferred.
- Knowledge of labor laws, payroll practices, and HR processes.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and HR/payroll software systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Professional demeanor and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
Working Environment
- Manufacturing office environment.
- Standard schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
- Some overtime may be required.
- Schedule flexibility may be available based on business needs.
