We are seeking a highly skilled Machinist with a strong background on Citizen Swiss machines (L12, L20, A20, L32 preferred) to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and programming CNC machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components with exceptional quality. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical principles, blueprint reading, and advanced machining techniques. The Swiss Machinist will play a vital role in ensuring that all parts meet strict specifications and quality standards, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. The ideal candidate should possess an AA/AS degree with emphasis on Machine Tool Technology in addition to a minimum of five years of complex Citizen Swiss machining experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup & Changeovers: Load programs, select appropriate cutting tools, and install/adjust guide bushings and bar feeders. Additional tasks include perform dry runs, run first article parts, and conduct full inspection. Complete teardowns and full setups of machines must be accomplished in hours and not days.
- Programming & Editing: Read blueprints and engineering drawings, and utilize G&M codes or CAM software to write and optimize multi-axis toolpaths.
- Tooling Offsets: Monitor tool wear and perform precise offset adjustments to maintain exact blueprint specifications including the set up and offset of all turning tools, radial & axial live tools, and sweep in tools.
- Quality Control & Inspection: Execute "first article" inspections. Continuously measure in-process parts using micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, and surface finish gauges to ensure compliance. Make necessary adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tooling to optimize cycle time and part quality.
- Documentation: Accurately complete quality system paperwork, routing travelers, and ISO audit documentation.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine machine maintenance, clear jams, and diagnose mechanical or tooling issues. Maintain machines for chip removal, fluid levels and general housekeeping.
Required Qualifications:
- AA/AS degree with emphasis on Machine Tool Technology preferred or equivalent combination of applied work experience.
- 5 years of hands-on experience in a CNC Citizen Swiss machining environment.
- Strong background on Citizen Swiss machines (L12, L20, A20, L32 preferred)
- Advanced ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and metrology
- Strong shop math and applied geometry skills.
- Proven ability to perform fast, accurate setups on complex parts
- Experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
- Must be legally able to purchase and be around firearms (client is an ATF-regulated 07 FFL / 02 SOT)
- Must pass background check
- Stable work history with references (past employers will be verified)
