About the Role & Company

This is not your average office job. It is not a typical executive assistant role either. It is something better.

This is the right-hand role to an independent lighting sales representative who represents multiple premier lighting brands and has spent years building a business on relationships, integrity, and doing right by his clients. As his right-hand person, your fingerprints will be on every order that ships, every client relationship that grows, and every opportunity that gets identified and brought to the table.

You are not just keeping the lights on behind the scenes. You are an active part of building something, and the owner's ability to grow his business depends significantly on how well you run it alongside him.

This is a Swiss Army knife position at the heart of a values-driven, relationship-first business. The owner is looking for someone who can be the operational backbone of everything he has built so he can focus on growing it—and you get a hand in helping him continue to grow.

What You Will Own

  • Email management — This is the heartbeat of the role. One hundred percent of business communication flows through a shared customer service inbox. Responses are expected within 24 hours. Nothing rolls over unaddressed. You are the voice of the business in every message that goes out.
  • Order entry, tracking, and follow-through — From the moment an order is placed to the moment it lands at the customer's door. You own the full cycle, including freight tracking, status updates, and escalations when something goes wrong. You do not stop until it is resolved.
  • Quotes and estimates — You will prepare quotes, estimated freight costs, and pricing for customers and showrooms using manufacturer pricing guidelines and systems.
  • Customer issue resolution — Broken parts, shipping errors, warranty questions, returns. You are the resolution expert. When you do not know the answer, you find out who does and get it handled.
  • Manufacturer relationship management — You will learn the product lines, contact channels, and support systems for each manufacturer.
  • Executive briefing and support — Before the owner visits a showroom or meets with a client, you have him briefed on every open issue, active order, and relevant update. You and the owner operate as a team.

The Sales Element

  • This role has a sales component that will grow over time. In addition to keeping operations running smoothly, you will support the owner's sales activity by visiting lighting showrooms, maintaining existing client relationships, and identifying potential new clients.
  • When you spot an opportunity, you bring it back. When a relationship needs nurturing, you show up for it. You get to land new accounts, expand existing ones, and help the bottom line of the business grow while reaping the rewards of your efforts through additional commission.
  • This is not a cold-calling role. It is relationship-driven and growth-oriented.
  • Lighting industry knowledge is a significant advantage. You do not need to be an expert on day one, but genuine curiosity about the products and industry will accelerate your impact. The office manager/operations structure of the role remains the heart of the position, while sales creates opportunities for growth and additional income.

What Success Looks Like

  • First 30 days: You are learning the systems, studying the manufacturers and products, and becoming comfortable with the inbox, order process, and common customer questions.
  • 60–90 days: You are handling approximately 80% of daily operations independently. You know which decisions are yours and which require escalation. You're briefing the owner before showroom visits without being asked and anticipating client needs before they become problems.
  • Six months: You are the operational backbone of the business. The inbox is under control, client relationships are strong, and the owner is spending more time selling because you have everything else handled. You're leaning into the sales side, and the results of the partnership are showing up in the numbers.

What You Bring

  • Experience supporting a high-level executive, business owner, or sales professional. You understand the nuance of keeping someone informed without overwhelming them and preparing them before they walk into a room.
  • Exceptional written communication that is professional, thorough, and clear.
  • Detail orientation and follow-through. You do not let things fall through the cracks. You have a system, you work it, and you close the loop every time.
  • Self-motivation and schedule discipline. This is a remote role. You manage your own time and your own success. Nobody is looking over your shoulder—and you don't need them to be.
  • Flexibility. The role has core hours, but there will be days that run longer. You recognize when extra effort is needed, give it, and communicate proactively.
  • Integrity and professionalism. This business runs on honesty and relationships built over years.
  • Lighting industry experience is strongly preferred, but it is not an absolute requirement for the right candidate.

What You Will Gain

  • You'll build deep knowledge of the lighting industry, its products, manufacturers, distributors, showrooms, and relationships.
  • You'll operate with genuine ownership, make real decisions, and see the direct impact of your work.
  • You'll step into an established business with lasting client relationships and strong manufacturer partnerships.
  • The previous person in this role held the position for 10 years, and you'll have the opportunity to build a true working partnership with the owner.
  • You'll also have the opportunity to grow into the sales side of the business at your own pace, build your own relationships, represent brands, and contribute directly to revenue growth.
  • Compensation & Perks

$45,000–$55,000 base salary commission and bonus opportunities

Paid time off, paid holidays, company cell phone, expense reimbursement, and a remote schedule you control.

Schedule & Location

  • This role is remote and Colorado-based, with a flexible 40-hour schedule Monday through Friday between approximately 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM MST.
  • Occasional in-person meetings with the owner and showroom visits within Colorado should be expected.
  • The role also requires one annual five-business-day trip to Dallas, Texas.
