Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing exceptional patient service, supporting clinical operations, and managing administrative tasks within a fast-paced primary care office. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, medical knowledge, and the ability to multitask efficiently in an outpatient settings. Experience with EHR systems, specifically Athena, medical terminology, and patient care procedures is preferred to ensure smooth clinic operations and high-quality patient interactions. However, time could be taken to train the right candidate if needed.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out processes
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update records accurately
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Assist with patient intake, including history taking and documenting symptoms
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort
- Support clinical staff with tasks such as specimen collection for rapid testing (i.e. Strep, Flu, COVID, urine collection)
- Maintain accurate documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Assist in scheduling appointments and managing the clinic calendar
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and infection control standards
Experience
- Prior experience in outpatient clinics or hospital settings preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Experience working with EHR systems and handling patient service responsibilities
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to deliver compassionate patient care in fast-paced environments such as urgent care centers or inpatient units
