Duties
- Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance using tools like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration to ensure health stability
- Administer medications following care plans while maintaining strict compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption or feeding as required
- Conduct patient observation to identify changes in condition or behavior, especially in residents with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease
- Maintain clean and safe living environments by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols
- Support residents in participating in social activities and community outings to foster engagement and well-being
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and assisting with ADLs
- Familiarity with specialized care such as Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, memory care, autism support, hospice care, and long-term care settings
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts when needed
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and patient safety assessments
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members and supporting residents’ social needs
- Certification in first aid and CPR; additional training in HIPAA compliance preferred
