Job Title: Project Accountant

Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually
About the Role:
A well-established construction firm is seeking a highly detail-oriented Project Accountant to support a major multi-million-dollar construction project in Amarillo, TX. This role is critical to ensuring both the financial integrity and operational success of the project through accounting, coordination, compliance, and administrative support.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and issue vendor purchase orders, coordinating closely with Project Executives and Project Managers.
Serve as the primary point of contact for Accounts Payable, reviewing and validating invoices and payment requests.
Act as the main liaison for Payroll, ensuring payroll batches are accurate, complete, and submitted timely.
Ensure the complete and timely recording of all project-related financial transactions.
Manage and maintain an organized project office environment, overseeing office operations and supporting office staff.
Prepare and submit accurate customer invoices based on project progress reports and contractual milestones.
Oversee subcontractor onboarding processes, ensuring all compliance and documentation requirements are met.
Support ongoing communication and coordination between internal teams, vendors, and subcontractors.
Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date project records and documentation.
Monitor deadlines and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding project and financial tasks.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, company policies, and relevant regulations.
Understand, interpret, and administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in project accounting, project coordination, construction administration, or a similar role.
Experience in large-scale commercial or infrastructure construction projects preferred.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with construction management and accounting software a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
Knowledge of basic accounting principles, compliance regulations, and contract administration preferred.
