Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals with developmental disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and promoting their independence and well-being. You will work closely with the individuals in their CILA homes, and community environments. Your commitment to patient care and ability to foster meaningful relationships will be vital in enhancing the quality of life for those you serve.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, toileting, changing, and medication management.
- Implement and follow care plans tailored to each individual's unique needs.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for our individual's.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in health status to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for our individual's.
- Advocate for individual's rights, ensuring dignity and respect in all interactions.
- Engage individual's in social activities that promote engagement and community involvement.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
Requirements
- Previous experience is required.
- Ability to assist with cooking nutritious meals that meet dietary restrictions.
- Understanding of individual rights and the importance of advocacy in care settings.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals and team members.
- Basic knowledge of vital signs monitoring is beneficial.
- Must possess patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Must be able to follow instructions from the management team.
- GED or HS Diploma is required.
- DD aide or DSP on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry.
- Valid Driver's License (able to take individual's out in the community).
If called for an interview, applicant must bring proof of HS Diploma or GED. Two pieces of ID, 1 must be a picture ID.
