CNC Grinder

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Grinder to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will operate and set up precision grinding machines to produce high-quality metal components in accordance with engineering specifications. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional integrity of machined parts, supporting our commitment to manufacturing excellence. The ideal applicant will possess strong mechanical knowledge, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with precision measurement tools to deliver consistent results.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC grinding machines, including surface and cylindrical grinders, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
• Interpret technical blueprints, mechanical drawings, and specifications to accurately produce parts within tight tolerances.
• Program CNC grinders using G-code and M-code, incorporating CAM software such as SolidWorks or CAD for complex geometries.
• Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and other measurement instruments to verify part dimensions.
• Perform machine calibration, tool changes, and routine maintenance to uphold quality standards and minimize downtime.
• Read and interpret mechanical blueprints and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure proper machining processes.
• Troubleshoot machining issues promptly by adjusting machine parameters or tooling as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to review specifications and improve manufacturing processes.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment adhering to safety protocols at all times.

Skills

• Proven experience operating CNC grinders, including surface grinders and cylindrical grinders.
• Proficiency in CNC programming languages such as G-code and M-code; experience with CNC milling machines is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software like SolidWorks and general blueprint reading skills.
• Mechanical aptitude with understanding of machining tools, tooling setups, manual machining techniques, lathes, mills, and hand tools.
• Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, micrometers, and precision measuring instruments for quality control.
• Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints accurately and apply GD&T principles effectively.
• Knowledge of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is advantageous.
• Basic math skills for calculations related to machining dimensions and tolerances.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency.
• Strong attention to detail combined with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams in a fast-paced environment.
