PathPoint is excited to welcome new full-time, bilingual, Spanish speaking Family Support Specialists to join our Coordinated Family Support (CFS) team and Independent Living Services (ILS) around the San Fernando Valley area. In this dual job role, you will be supporting adults with disabilities and their families as well as teaching invaluable independent living skills to clients in their homes.

About Us: PathPoint is a non-profit dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, mental health diagnoses, and young adults in living the life they choose. Through strengthening workplace abilities, developing essential life skills, and fostering meaningful relationships, we serve communities in Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Coordinated Family Support Program: CFS offers specialized support for adults with developmental disabilities residing in their family homes. Our services are tailored and flexible, catering to the unique needs of each individual and their family or caregiver. As a Family Support Specialist, you'll provide essential guidance, advocacy, and assistance with community resources Your responsibilities will include conducting weekly home visits to understand the specific needs and challenges of each family. Collaborating with both the family and the CFS team, you'll develop and implement practical, long-term strategies and short-term objectives.

Independent Living Program: In this role, you'll teach independent living skills to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. This could include cooking and grocery shopping, healthy living and exercise, budgeting and money management, scheduling and attending medical appointments, or other skills depending on the individual's personal goals. You may also have the opportunity to share your personal hobbies with the individuals you are supporting.

Schedule: Up to 40 hours per week, Typically Mon-Friday 10:00am-6:30pm. Variable schedule based on client's availability, may include evenings and weekends.

Starting Pay: $25.25 per hour. The pay range for this position is $23.99 - $26.51 (subject to change based on a variety of factors).

$1000 Signing Bonus: We are excited to offer a sign-on bonus for the Family Support Specialist, bilingual role to new team member joining the organization.

  • The first $500 portion is earned only if the employee reports to work on their first scheduled workday.
  • The second $500 portion is earned only if the employee is in "Good Standing" through their six-month anniversary.

What We're Looking For

  • Must have an Associates-level degree in human services or at least 3 years of experience in human services.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish
  • Comfortable with home visits and capable of designing and executing customized program curriculum
  • Ability to recognize and respect the diverse dynamics within each family
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, social workers, Department of Rehabilitation or Regional Center Staff and others in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Knowledge of the Regional Center, community resources and support services are desired.
  • Ability to advocate effectively on behalf of families within various systems.
  • Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
  • Must hold a valid California driver's license with satisfactory driving record and at least 5 years of driving experience.
