Under minimal supervision, the LIS System Specialist will collaborate with various SHUSA DermPath Division departments, clients, and stakeholders to gather and document processes and workflows. The LIS System Specialist will identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. This person will provide support to laboratory teams for the LIS and its related processes and functions, which include troubleshooting issues and training new users. Location: Austin, Texas Status: Full-time Shift: 1st Benefit Eligible Job duties and responsibilities Acts as liaison between client and PW teams Collaborates with staff to thoroughly understand the needs to be supported by our labs and our LIS. Provides recommendations regarding the evolution of the system. Responds to inquiries and provides advice to the client regarding current and potential system inputs, processes, and outputs. Develops and communicates detailed specifications for implementation of new features. Maintains and ensures proper documentation and coordinates or performs testing of system modifications. Collaborates with the lab and engineering teams to ensure the needs of the client and PathologyWatch labs have been met. Researches and analyzes the nature, effect, and results of process and system difficulties. Maintains current understanding of industry standards, trends, and best practices through industry and other professional networks. Drives operational efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. Acts as Subject Matter Expert for LIS-related activities and serves as first point of contact for lab personnel with questions/issues with LIS Reviews system for delayed cases. Facilitates Monitors and forwards consult cases to internal consultants per DermPath’s requests. Uploads outside reports and sends out paperwork to cases in LIS. Provides ongoing feedback to Engineering on performance and issues to support further development of the system. Will provide end-user support and training to internal and external users May perform other related duties as needed. Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workplace or related software program. Extremely organized with great attention to detail. Ability to adapt to change. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems. Ability to act as a team player. Displays diplomacy and tactfulness in all communications. Education and Experience: Associate's degree in Medical System, Histology, Information Technology, Business, or related field, Bachelor’s degree preferred At least three years of related experience. OR any acceptable combination of education, certification(s), and experience. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
