· ***Assist the Pathologist in surgical pathology and autopsies by handling larger tissue samples, performing dissections, and managing complex tasks of the Pathologist***

LOCATION:

REQUIRED:

• CPA - certified Pathology Assistant
• Must be Certified, ASCP-PA / ASCP-Pathology Asst
• Heavy experience is preferred
• Master’s degree in Pathologist Assistant Program from accredited institution (NAACLS)

ROLE:

• Direct interaction with Pathologists
• Conducting gross examination, dissection, and dictation of all surgical specimens, including simple and complex cases
• Preparing tissues for histopathology processing
• Assisting in the preparation of frozen sections during intraoperative consultations
• Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment
• Prepares and microtomes required tissues for routine and special procedures
• May Assist with specimen collection during biopsy
• Cleans and sterilizes work area and instruments after use.
• Accessions surgical pathology specimens into the pathology LIS following standard procedures
