About Us
Pathology Laboratories of Arkansas (PLA) is an independent, physician-owned pathology practice providing surgical pathology services throughout Arkansas. We are seeking a motivated Gross Technician to join our growing Tissue Laboratory.
Position Summary
The Gross Technician performs accessioning and gross preparation of routine surgical pathology specimens under the supervision of a pathologist. This position is ideal for someone with a strong science background who enjoys working in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Receive and accession surgical pathology specimens
Gross routine surgical specimens according to laboratory protocols
Measure, describe, orient, ink, and place tissue into cassettes
Enter specimen information into the laboratory information system (LIS)
Follow laboratory safety standards
Maintain a clean, organized grossing area
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in biology, Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science, or related life science OR Associate degree in Histotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, or related field
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
Experience in histology, tissue processing, or surgical pathology
Experience grossing routine surgical pathology specimens
Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
