Notice of Vacancy Medical Assisting Teacher(Anticipated opening - Cold Spring)Position: Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School is a four-year regional vocational technical high school serving approximately 650 students and currently offering fifteen technical programs. The district is currently expanding, with projected enrollment growth over the coming years. The Medical Assisting teacher will be responsible for creating curriculum and teaching in a partially co-enrolled program for the 2026-2027 school year. An approved Medical Assisting program approval is anticipated for the 2027-2028 School Year making the total Chapter 74 program offerings available at 16 programs.The Medical Assisting position will be assigned to the districts new extended campus located in the former Cold Spring School in Belchertown, Massachusetts.
The Belchertown campus is scheduled to open in September 2026 and is expected to serve approximately 100 students during its first year of operation.Qualifications: 1.Current DESE license in Medical Assisting or Health Assisting. Candidates must possess, or have the credentials to pursue, Massachusetts Vocational Technical Teacher Licensure in Medical Assisting. Must be licensed in Medical Assisting within one year of hiring.2.Possession of current national certification as a Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant/Secretary within one year of hiring.3.Associate degree or higher degree related to the subject matter and skills to be taught.4.At least Four years of full-time employment experience directly related to the field of the license sought.a.Applicants who possess a bachelors degree in the field of the license and/or vocational education may have their degree accepted in lieu of 1 year of the required employment experience.b.Applicants who possess a masters degree in the field of the license and/or vocational education may have their degree accepted in lieu of 2 years of the required employment experience.5.Candidates must be willing to pursue the coursework required by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for licensure.Performance Responsibilities: The Medical Assisting teacher will have the responsibility for developing, coordinating, delivering, and supervising technical and related theory learning experiences for students in the Medical Assisting program. Instruction will be in accordance with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Educations Vocational Technical Education Framework for Medical Assisting.
Additional responsibilities as needed including, but not limited to, creating and updating curriculum. Classes are to be taught to grades 9-12 in a regional vocational school.Compensation: The salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the approved Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School salary schedule.
