Job Summary
Path Forward of Kentucky is looking for a Supported Employment Specialist in the Bowling Green area. Supported Employment Specialists work directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities to assist in selecting, obtaining and maintaining employment.
- Partner with individuals on the caseload to provide pre-employment support services (i.e. resume writing, mock interviewing, vocational assessments, basic job skills, etc.)
- Aid in completion of job applications, resume submissions and interviews, as needed
- Develop relationships with employers to cultivate jobs in the community, advocating for individuals on the caseload
- Document related activity in each phase (i.e. pre-employment through on the job coaching and follow up) in a timely manner to maintain caseload compliance
- Provide motivation, advocacy and encouragement to help individuals achieve independence through employment
- Maintain confidentiality of all caseload information
Qualifications and Skills
Education/Training: High school diploma or GED is required. Must complete Supported Employment Training course offered through the University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute within first 6 months of employment (course is scheduled and paid for by company)
Qualifications: Successful candidate should have strong verbal and written communication skills, be detail-oriented, have the ability to switch between tasks and be flexible. Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and current car insurance. At least one (1) year of experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities or other mental/physical disorders is required. Experience with recruiting or job placement services a plus.
Physical Demands: Should be able to sit or stand for long periods, work extensively with a computer and/or smart phone and drive a personal car daily. Duties for this position are completed in an office environment and out in the community.
