Job Summary
The Independent Living Instructor provides individualized training and support to adults with developmental disabilities to increase independence, self-sufficiency, and community participation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct training and support in independent living skills, including but not limited to:

- Home maintenance and safety

- Implement teaching strategies consistent with each client’s Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP) objectives.

- Encourage and facilitate client choice, dignity, and self-determination, in accordance with person-centered planning principles.
- Support clients in identifying and accessing community resources, including housing, healthcare, recreation, and transportation.
- Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case reviews, and coordination with Regional Center Service Coordinators and other agencies.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all Welfare and Institutions Code provisions protecting client rights.
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation as a mandated reporter under Welfare and Institutions Codes.
- Attend ongoing training and professional development as required by Title 17 and agency policy.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- At least one (1) year of experience providing direct services to adults with developmental disabilities or similar population.
- Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current auto insurance.
- Must pass DOJ/FBI background check and TB clearance prior to employment.
