Qualifications
- NJ instructional certificate in Physical Education and Health
- Hold and maintain CPR/First Aid certifications
- If assigned responsibilities for teaching swimming, must hold and maintain an American Red Cross water safety certificate registered with the New Jersey State Department of Education
- Have experience in teaching and working with students in the field of comprehensive health and physical education, unless entering teaching from an alternative certification program
- Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA
- Excellent classroom management
- Effective instructional practices and strategies
- Experience working with elementary students
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and good moral character
- Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others
- Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community
- Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
- Diagnose student strengths and weakness and match those skills with appropriate techniques and materials
- Mastery of pedagogical and subject matter skills
- Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
