What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher Coordinator of Multilingual Learners position at PATERSON PUBLIC SCHOOLS?
Qualifications
- Preferably holds a master's degree.
- Hold a NJ Instructional or Educational Services Certification in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27-1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11, with appropriate subject area endorsement(s) for the position held (NJ.A.C. 6:11-6.1, 6.2, or 8.1 et seg.).
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of excellent experience in teaching and working with Multilingual students.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Infinite Campus, Google for Education, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, ACCESS testing and AD-HOC reporting.
- Collect data and complete all reports required in a timely fashion. Update the district student AD-HOC report/Needs Assessment information on an on-going basis.
- Interpret the Home Language Survey results. Administer WIDA Screener to remain in compliance with (N.J.A.C.) 6A:15, Bilingual Education.
- Assist with ACCESS testing and any other district assessment for Multilingual learners.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child's growth, development, and language acquisition.
- Demonstrate the ability to improve teaching and learning for the Multilingual Program.
- Exhibits personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
- Collaborate with Child Study Team to support Multilingual students with special needs.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Familiar with Multilingual Department's referral process (Entry/Exit).
- Has knowledge of the various Bilingual Programs offered in the District.
- Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable
