What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sales Development Representative (SDR) – LitigationVault position at PatentVC?
Here’s a much sharper, market-aware, “this is a generational shift” version of the SDR role—grounded in your product, patent positioning, and the actual wedge (privilege-safe AI for litigation):
Sales Development Representative (SDR) – LitigationVault
Location: San Francisco Bay Area (In-Person Preferred)
About LitigationVaultLitigationVault is building the first privilege-preserving AI infrastructure for litigation—a system designed not just to help lawyers work faster, but to ensure their AI-assisted work actually holds up in court.
Recent federal rulings have made one thing clear:
Using public AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) can destroy attorney-client privilege.
That creates a massive, urgent problem—and an even bigger opportunity.
LitigationVault solves this by combining:
- A secure evidence vault with full chain-of-custody tracking
- A privilege enforcement engine that continuously validates legal protections
- An AI analysis layer that generates timelines, issue spotting, deposition prep, and motion drafts—inside the privilege boundary
This isn’t just another legal AI tool.
It’s a new category: AI that is safe for litigation.
Why This Role MattersYou are not just booking meetings.
You are:
- Introducing law firms to a fundamental shift in how litigation will be conducted
- Selling into a market where 79% of lawyers are already using AI—but doing it unsafely
- Positioning a product that is likely to become standard infrastructure for litigation teams
This is a ground-floor opportunity in a category that:
- Targets 45,000 U.S. litigation firms and 15,000 enterprise legal departments
- Is being accelerated by real court decisions—not hype
- Has clear urgency, budget, and enterprise relevance
We’re hiring a high-intensity SDR to build pipeline with:
- Litigation partners at law firms
- General counsel and in-house litigation teams
- Legal ops and compliance leaders
This is a consultative outbound role—you will be engaging senior attorneys on:
- Privilege risk
- Litigation workflows
- AI adoption strategy
You will work directly with the founders and sales leadership to refine messaging and close early design partners.
What You’ll Do- Identify and target high-value law firms and enterprise legal teams
- Run high-quality outbound campaigns (email, phone, LinkedIn)
- Educate prospects on:
- AI privilege risks
- Litigation workflow inefficiencies
- Why existing tools fail in court contexts
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads into real opportunities
- Book and prepare meetings for senior sales/founders
- Track pipeline and continuously improve messaging based on feedback
You are helping law firms:
- Stop risking waiver of attorney-client privilege
- Consolidate fragmented evidence into a single, defensible system
- Use AI to:
- Summarize documents
- Build timelines
- Detect contradictions
- Prepare depositions
- Draft motions
- While maintaining:
- Audit trails
- Attorney supervision
- Court-ready defensibility
- 1–4 years in SDR / BDR / outbound sales (enterprise or SaaS preferred)
- Strong ability to speak with smart, skeptical professionals (lawyers)
- High curiosity—you’re willing to learn litigation workflows and legal concepts
- Exceptional communication: clear, precise, credible
- Relentless follow-up and ownership mindset
- Comfortable in a zero-playbook, build-from-scratch environment
- Experience selling into law firms or legal departments
- Legal background (paralegal, JD, compliance, etc.)
- Experience with enterprise sales cycles
Most SDR roles are about volume.
This one is about timing and leverage.
- You’re entering right after a major legal shift (Heppner ruling)
- You’re selling a product with a clear, defensible wedge (privilege AI)
- You’re working directly with founders on category creation
If this works—and all signals suggest it will—you are early in:
- A new standard layer in legal tech
- A company targeting enterprise law firm adoption at scale
- A category where switching costs and trust create long-term defensibility
- Competitive base aggressive commission
- Equity (meaningful for early hires)
- Significant upside tied to early pipeline creation
San Francisco Bay Area (in-person strongly preferred), work from PatentVC's Sand Hill Road Menlo Park office and/or Mountain View building.
Send:
- A short note on why this market and product interest you
- An example of a strong outbound email to a law firm partner
- Any relevant experience selling complex or high-trust products
We are not looking for average SDRs.
We are looking for people who want to help define how legal AI is actually used in the real world.
If you want, I can push this even further into:
- “killer recruiter magnet” (shorter, sharper, more aggressive)
- or a LinkedIn job post outbound message sequence the SDR would actually use
