Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and provide exceptional service by understanding their project needs and recommending suitable products.
- Operate the POS (Point of Sale) system accurately for transactions, including cash handling, credit card processing, and receipts.
- Assist with product demos, merchandising displays, stocking shelves, and maintaining an organized sales floor to enhance customer experience.
- Manage inventory by stocking shelves, conducting product demos when needed, and ensuring products are properly labeled and accessible.
- Upsell complementary products to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining a customer-first approach.
- Handle customer inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism, demonstrating strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Support supervising staff by assisting with store operations, product knowledge sharing, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a lumber yard or with lumber products.
- Ability to lift and carry to to 50lbs repeatedly.
- Comfortable working in outdoor conditions year-round.
- Strong attention to detail and safety is a must.
- Previous retail experience or familiarity with grocery store or hardware store environments is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage customers effectively in English or bilingual in additional languages.
- Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and inventory management.
- Experience with POS systems, cashiering, merchandising, stocking, and upselling techniques.
- Demonstrated customer service skills with a friendly attitude and professional phone etiquette.
- Supervising experience is a plus but not required; willingness to learn and grow within the team is essential.
