Summary:
We're looking for a proactive, driven, and results-oriented Buyer to join our Procurement team. In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing direct spending categories, procuring essential materials in the most cost-effective way, and continuously improving internal and external processes. A deep understanding of supply chain management, category management, inventory risk, and supplier relationship management is crucial for success. You'll need to be an independent problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
Responsibilities- Ensure all materials within managed categories are delivered on time and within budget.
- Monitor material expiration or obsolescence to ensure proper consumption and utilization.
- Verify all necessary documentation from partners is received promptly.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, implementing processes to drive maximum value from these partnerships.
- Manage supplier performance through a robust process, including conducting regular business reviews and utilizing scorecards to measure performance.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities through operational efficiencies, strategic pricing exercises, and regular Request for Proposal (RFP) processes.
- Provide timely forecasts to all suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external production teams to prevent any impact on manufacturing schedules.
- Work with other material buyers to ensure consistent and cohesive procurement processes and schedules.
- Manage excess materials effectively to minimize waste and optimize inventory.
- Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
- Monitor and advise on any issues that present risk or opportunity to the organization's supply chain.
- Provide detailed cost analysis and review cost reduction activities with key stakeholders.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and updates as required.
- Review and approve invoices and shipping documentation for receiving before payment.
- Resolve any price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.
- Collaborate with New Product Development team on upcoming projects, achieving deadlines for product launches

- Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with internal staff, stakeholders, and external suppliers.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical aptitude with demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and meet targets.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness, understanding the impact of supply chain disruptions on production, manufacturing, and customer fulfillment.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and manage emergency or stressful situations.
- Keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4 years of progressive procurement and supply chain experience.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within consumer goods or a related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple critical projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (experience with NetSuite is a plus).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products and Google Drive.
- Ability to work in a hybrid capacity, with a combination of in-office presence in Fairfield, CA, and remote work.
Compensation: $85,000-$100,000
