The Human Resource (HR) Generalist I will perform administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s human resource department. The HR Generalist I is responsible for assisting the Human Resource Manager in human resources and administrative duties and accurate input, processing and submitting payroll. Maintaining confidentiality while providing excellent customer service is a must as well as excellent attention to detail.

This position is required to adhere to the policies and procedures of Pasta Montana’s food safety, quality, and legality programs.
Salary: Depending on qualifications $23.00 - $28.00 per hour.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical standards in handling sensitive employee information.
- Ability to mediate disputes and find resolutions that align with company policies while promoting a positive workplace culture. Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on workplace policies and employee matters.
- Supports change management initiatives by keeping employees informed and engaged during organizational transitions.
- Performs complex administrative duties, which involve exposure to sensitive information necessitating considerable use of tact, diplomacy, discretion and judgment. Maintaining confidentiality is essential.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Assist employees with benefit questions, open enrollment and claims as needed. Partners with the HR Manager with benefit programs, COBRA administration and the annual renewal process.
- Conducts and/or assists with new hire orientation. Introduces Pasta Montana’s Learning Management System (LMS) to new employees and manages enrollments for required training. Processes new hire paperwork and data entry.
- Develop and maintain an employee recognition program. This will include employee anniversary recognition, birthday and special events. Assists with planning and execution of events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Manages Pasta Montana’s Learning Management System (LMS). Designs learning content while working closely with the department managers to ensure accuracy of information and quizzes. Assign annual, new employee and departmental training to all employees.
- Responsible for preparing, processing and submitting accurate bi-weekly payroll. Enters, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, commissions, bonuses, paid leave, benefits, garnishments, taxes, child support and other deductions and personal changes.
- New hire and terminations maintenance as it relates to payroll, insurance deductions and retirement. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Attend conferences, workshops, and webinars to stay up to date with legal changes regarding human resources and payroll law.
- Develop and maintain tracking report(s) for all company gift cards.
- Performs other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications: 2-years post-secondary education in human resources, business and/or accounting, or equivalent experience or qualifications.
Minimum Experience: 2-years human resource, administrative, and/or payroll experience. Experience with ADP or other payroll processing software.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent communication skills. Must be able to work independently, plan, organize and prioritize responsibilities. Good mathematical and analytical skills. Must be able to work in and communicate effectively in a team setting; efficient in problem solving. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information/situations with tact, professionalism and diplomacy. Proficient with payroll, human resource information system (HRIS) and similar computer applications. Attention to detail is essential.
