SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for picking, staging, and shipping out-bound loads, preparing shipping documents and loading and unloading in-bound and out-bound shipments. Forklift Operators are expected to make rack space, sweep and maintain cleanliness of warehouse/forklifts, and FIFO finished products during downtime. This position shares responsibility for maintaining Pasta Montana’s food safety, quality and legality program under the BRC guidelines.
Pasta Montana team members are expected to maintain a positive work atmosphere through communication and behaving in a manner that is courteous and respectful to all customers, vendors, contractors, co-workers, leads and management. Pasta Montana team members are also expected to have on-time, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance and must always be aware and pay attention to their surroundings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Must have and maintain a current driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle/equipment.
- Must complete an in-house forklift safety course and maintain a Forklift Operators Certification.
- Completes daily forklift operations checklist.
- Must be able to operate a forklift safely, correctly, efficiently and in accordance with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Gains knowledge of and follows all food safety requirements including GMP’s, HACCP and BRC.
- Follows work instructions/directives correctly.
- Picks and stages customer orders.
- Loads and unloads in-bound and out-bound trailers.
- Communicates effectively with all co-workers and departments, especially Packaging and Production, to ensure material levels are sustained on all production lines.
- Replaces broken and substandard wood and plastic pallets and disposes of non-conforming pallets.
- Maintains good housekeeping principles at all times and maintains an organized, neat warehouse.
- Must be able to retain and recall product, material item numbers and warehouse locations.
- Ensures all finished goods materials are in the inventory system and that each lot number is assigned to the correct bin location.
- Ensures aisles and dock lanes are clear of equipment and product to allow for safe forklift operations.
- Must be able to move material and equipment to and from the off-site warehouse in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
- Must have ability to adapt to abrupt changes to the daily shipping schedule and load trucks in a timely manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education: Attended high school or equivalent.
Minimum Experience: Prior warehouse, forklift, manufacturing or commercial work experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of plant production and warehouse environment a plus. Good mathematical and analytical skills as well as ability to work in cooperation with others. Understanding of safety standards. Able to identify deficiencies and assist to correct them. Ability to function as a motivated team member in a highly dynamic environment. Able to work and communicate effectively in a team setting. Able to learn, to troubleshoot and to multi-task.
Other Qualifications: Must be able to complete and pass an in-house qualification course for operating a forklift. Ability to use computer automated systems and software. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
