Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and food safety. This role focuses on the review and maintenance of label and product specification sheets, verification of regulatory standards (USDA/FDA), and daily QA tasks within a certified SQF facility.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of food labeling regulations, ingredient declarations, allergen management, and quality documentation within a food manufacturing environment - preferably with experience in pasta or dry food products.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Label & Spec Sheet Management:
    • Review and approve packaging labels for compliance with USDA and FDA regulations, including nutritional panels, ingredient statements, and allergen declarations.
    • Maintain and update product specification sheets, ensuring accuracy and alignment with formulation and regulatory requirements.
    • Collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, and Production teams to support new product launches and label development.
  • Quality Assurance Duties:
    • Conduct daily inspections of production areas to ensure GMPs, sanitation, and food safety practices are followed.
    • Perform in-process and finished product quality checks (moisture, weight, temperature, appearance, etc.).
    • Monitor and document CCPs and CPs in accordance with HACCP and food safety plans.
  • Regulatory & Certification Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, and SQF standards, including proper documentation, traceability, and internal audits.
    • Assist in preparation for third-party audits and regulatory inspections.
    • Maintain quality records, including COAs, deviation reports, non-conformance logs, and corrective actions.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and safety.
    • Support training efforts for QA programs, GMPs, and food safety protocols.


Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related field preferred.
  • 2 years of QA experience in a food manufacturing environment (pasta/dry foods preferred).
  • Strong understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations.
  • Experience working in SQF-certified facilities; HACCP certification a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); experience with QA software systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Bilingual Spanish Preferred


Working Conditions:

  • Split between production floor and office environment.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment, ingredients, and allergens.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
