Job Title: Front Line Supervisor – Pasta Manufacturing (Mechanical Experience Required)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Front-Line Supervisor with a strong mechanical background to lead and coordinate day-to-day operations on the production floor of our pasta manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in food manufacturing and mechanical systems, ensuring optimal equipment performance, team productivity, and product quality in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coach, and lead a team of production operators and line workers during assigned shifts.
- Monitor and coordinate pasta production processes, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor mechanical interventions on pasta manufacturing equipment (e.g., extruders, pasta forming machines, conveyors, packaging machines).
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to report, diagnose, and resolve equipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), food safety protocols, and company SOPs.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to meet production targets and minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and promote a safety-first culture.
- Maintain accurate records of production output, downtime, labor hours, and quality checks.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including lean manufacturing and root cause analysis.
- Train and cross-train employees on machinery, safety procedures, and operational standards.
- Communicate effectively with other departments (maintenance, quality, logistics) to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or related field preferred.
- 3 years of supervisory experience in food manufacturing, preferably in pasta production.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience with production machinery.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations (HACCP, GMP, USDA, FDA, SQF etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Preferred:
- Experience with dough mixers, pasta extrusion, forming equipment & cooking lines.
- Basic understanding of PLC systems and automation.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Italian) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to temperature fluctuations, loud noise, and standing for long periods.
- May require weekend, night shift, or holiday work based on production needs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
