Location: Oak Park, IL
Schedule: Part-time schedule, up to 24 hours per week (Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays)
Compensation: $40.00 /hr
Structured Training Program
Passport Health's RN training is a phased, structured program designed to prepare you for independent consults through a blend of virtual learning, simulations, mentorship, and in-clinic experience. We offer both full-time and part-time training schedules to accommodate various availability needs.
- Phase 1 – Includes an introduction call on the first Monday, online modules with a set completion schedule, CDC training modules, vaccine protocols, shadowing with an experienced nurse, virtual mentor sessions, disease simulations, and self-study.
- Phase 2 – Mock consults in studio sessions, standing order reviews, and virtual mentor sessions.
- Phase 3 – Three days of in-clinic shadowing, followed by 1–2 days of independent consults with preceptor backup.
Your Role
As a Registered Nurse (Travel Medicine), you’ll provide vaccinations, travel health consultations, and education to clients preparing for international travel.
- Educating clients about travel-related diseases and vaccine-preventable illnesses
- Administering vaccines following standing orders and observing for adverse reactions
- Delivering outstanding customer service and ensuring patient safety
- Participating in ongoing travel medicine training and company education
- Promoting travel health products and medications to enhance client safety
- Assisting with clinic setup, organization, inventory management, and compliance with safety protocols
- Traveling to local onsite events (e.g., corporate wellness vaccine clinics) as needed
Scheduling & Seasonal Considerations - We use a census-based scheduling model similar to hospital settings. While specific hours are not guaranteed, nurses with flexibility (including weekends or multiple clinic locations) receive priority scheduling.
What You Need to Succeed
- Active RN license in good standing
- Comfortable working independently in a clinic setting
- 1 year of clinical or travel medicine experience
- Must have access to a personal computer (training systems are not compatible with phones, tablets, or iPads)
- Strong computer skills (Google Suite: Gmail, Drive, Docs, Meet)
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Professional communication skills and a passion for patient education
- Must be flexible to adapt to a seasonal scheduling model, where hours are based on client demand - we strive to accommodate nurses as much as possible with requested hours
- Ability to lift and transport vaccine inventory as needed
