Position Summary: The Pollution Prevention Inspector make field visits throughout the district in order to protect each municipality’s locally owned sewer system, the health and safety of persons and property in the PVSC service area, and PVSC’s treatment plant and associated sewer infrastructure. Duties will include inspecting food service establishments to ensure grease traps & interceptors are appropriately constructed, installed, maintained, and performing correctly, as well as ensuring that discharges from photo/X-ray processing establishments comply with PVSC's rules and regulations.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience: Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience as an Inspector, or three (3) years of manufacturing or processing experience in an industrial food processing or wastewater treatment plant. Five (5) years of inspection or related investigative experience may be substituted for some of these requirements. Must possess a high school diploma and two (2) years of college and/or technical training in a related field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the college requirement.
Requirements: Must have the ability to organize and develop effective work methods, work with minimum supervision, and exercise sound and independent judgment. Must be able to establish & maintain effective work relationships with business representatives throughout the district, record significant facts, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must have knowledge of various grease capturing equipment and silver control/treatment technologies, along with an understanding of both silver and grease control regulations (Sections 401 to 406.4 of PVSC’s Rules & Regulations). A working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the storage, disposal, and discharge of fats, oils, grease, and silver laden solutions is required.
Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects.
The expected base pay range is $85,514 to $118,020. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
