What are the responsibilities and job description for the State Financial Aid Coordinator position at Passaic County Community College?
We are seeking a State Financial Aid Coordinator who will report directly to the Director of Financial Aid and will be responsible for reviewing, awarding, and monitoring federal, state and alternative aid programs. This position is part of the PCCC Enrollment Services team that strives to provide excellent customer service for all enrollment-related functions.
This is a full-time, administrative position.
Example of Duties:
- Oversee the review and processing of all state financial aid programs (NJStars; TAG, EOF and CCOG)
- Perform the reconciliation of state programs in conjunction with the administrative office of Bursar, Finance, and Financial Aid.
- Perform need analysis for a caseload of over 500 students.
- Review and assist students and staff in the submissions of corrections and revisions to state application.
- Monitor and oversee the disbursement of state funds.
- Review withdrawal and dropped course reports for all state grant recipients.
- Update catalog with state grant requirements, deadlines and policies.
- Participate in training and financial aid workshops for students and parents.
- Assist in the processing and awarding of Direct Loan funds to students.
- Participate in high school and community presentations on financial aid.
- Provide excellent customer service and answers to student inquiries.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required.
- One to three years of experience in financial aid preferred.
- Working knowledge of all State and Federal Financial Aid programs preferred.
- Computer literacy and ability to utilize an integrated student system (preferably Colleague).
- Ability to work well with people, excellent communication (both oral and written) and customer service skills. Bilingual preferred (Spanish/English).
- Must be committed to serving a diverse student population,
- Must be able to travel locally.
- Must be willing and able to work evenings, overtime and/or at other locations as required.
The completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.
Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The starting salary for this position is $50,000.
