Brief Description
Position Summary
Under general supervision of the Dental Director, the Dentist provides dental services to Rolling Hills Clinic patients as permitted by State of California licensure and coordinates dental administrative procedures with the Dental Clinic Manager. Travel between Rolling Hills Clinic sites may be required to address staffing needs and shortages.

Working Environment: Work is performed in a health clinic setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate. Will work with blood-borne pathogens and will require OSHA training. This job routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, and fax machines. Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Position may require exertion up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Vaccination Requirements
Provide vaccination records to show proof of immunity for TB, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, TDAP & Hep B. If the records are more than 10 years old, titers are required to confirm immunity.

Employment with Rolling Hills Clinic is voluntarily entered into. All RHC personnel are employed on an at-will basis. At-will employment may be terminated with or without cause, and with or without notice at any time by the employee or by RHC. No manager, supervisor, or employee of the organization has any authority to enter into an agreement for employment for any specified period of time or to make an agreement for employment other than at-will terms. Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide high quality dental services to clinic patients.
- Stay up to date with new dental techniques.
- Coordinate and supervise staff functions during patient care.
- Participate in annual review and update of Dental Policy and Procedure Manual.
- Assist in development and proposal of new dental policies with the Dental Director.
- Keep Dental Clinic Manager well-informed of current Dental Department activities.
- Interpret dental radiographs accurately and communicate findings.
- Supervise hygienists in dental prophylaxis and fluoride treatment.
- Conduct complete dental examinations and create treatment plans.
- Diagnose and treat dental illnesses, disease, and disorders.
- Perform extractions, surgical procedures, endodontics, prosthetics, periodontics, and restorative services within scope.
- Refer patients for specialized dental care as needed.
- Prepare patients for dental services and instruct on post-treatment care.
- Perform procedures with patient comfort in mind; answer questions as needed.
- Actively participate in assigned meetings.
- Maintain positive public relations with patients, guests, and staff.
- Obtain and record medical/dental histories for registration updates.
- Perform dental lab procedures as needed.
- Safely perform all duties and follow required protective protocols.
- Maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards.
- Ensure all duties are performed with utmost regard for health and safety.
- Take corrective safety actions when needed.
- See a minimum of 12 members per day and complete documentation in the EDR system by end of shift.
- Collaborate as a dental team, assisting providers as needed (members, refills, approval queue, inbox).
- Manage members with behavioral or handicapping conditions.
- Ensure completion of medication refills for dental procedures before patient dismissal.
- Maintain licensure, DEA certification, and board certification if applicable.
- Fulfill and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements internally and externally.
- Provide comprehensive, high quality dental services to all members, regardless of background.
- Consider cultural, psychological, social, and environmental factors in treatment plans.
- Participate in training other dental personnel as requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience
- Diploma from accredited School of Dentistry.
- New dental student graduates will be considered.
- Advanced training or board certification in a dental specialty (such as pediatric dentistry, endodontics, or oral surgery)
- Experience working in a community clinic or with underserved populations
- Familiarity with Indian Health Services or tribal dental programs
- Valid California license to practice dentistry
- Current DEA Controlled Substance Registration
- Valid BLS Certification
- Valid California Driver’s License
