Compensation: $110,000–$150,000, based on experience Bonus Commissions

About the Role

We’re seeking a highly capable Controller to join our growing outsourced accounting team. In this client-facing role, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, providing strategic accounting and financial support tailored to their business needs.

You will lead and mentor a team of accountants who perform monthly close processes, deliver financial reporting, and support broader client initiatives. You’ll also play a hands-on role in financial modeling, systems advisory, and process improvement.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, has strong client communication skills, and brings a consultative mindset to solving business problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the main point of contact for assigned clients, offering proactive insights and financial guidance.
• Manage, review, and ensure that the month-end close process is executed in the most efficient and accurate manner.
• Support financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and related financial analysis projects for clients if needed.
• Guide clients in accounting systems implementations, app integrations, and automation strategies.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP or similar accrual principals.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement best practices in client delivery.
• Lead, coach, and develop accounting staff to ensure high performance and engagement.
• Contribute to internal process improvement and standardization efforts.

Qualifications

• 5 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.
• Prior experience working at a CAS (Client Accounting Services) provider or outsourced accounting firm is strongly preferred.
• Industry experience with SaaS, construction or home services businesses is a plus.
• Public accounting experience (e.g., Big 4 or mid-tier firm) is a strong advantage.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is required.
• Familiarity with tools such as Gusto, Ramp, Fathom, or similar accounting/finance apps.
• Strong leadership, project management, and team mentoring experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-first attitude.
• CPA or other relevant certification is a plus, but not required.
