Role Description The Veterinary Technician Manager – Overnight is a full-time, on-site role based in Philadelphia, PA, responsible for leading and supporting the overnight veterinary technician team in an emergency and specialty hospital setting. This position collaborates with the ECC Clinical Manager to oversee staffing, workflow, and case management to ensure efficient, compassionate care for patients and clear communication with clients. Daily responsibilities include supervising and mentoring technicians, coordinating patient triage and treatment plans, assisting with advanced nursing procedures, and promoting adherence to hospital protocols and safety standards. The manager collaborates closely with veterinarians and other team members, manages schedules, participates in training and performance evaluations, and helps maintain a positive, inclusive overnight culture aligned with PASE’s values.

Qualifications

  • Clinical veterinary skills: proficiency in emergency and critical care nursing, patient triage, anesthesia monitoring, and advanced technical procedures in a small animal setting.
  • Leadership and management skills: experience supervising teams, managing schedules and workflow, providing coaching and feedback, and supporting performance development.
  • Communication and client service skills: ability to communicate clearly with veterinarians, colleagues, and clients, explain treatment plans, and provide empathetic support during emergencies.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills: strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize multiple cases, and sound judgment in fast-paced, overnight environments.
  • Professional and educational background: credentialed veterinary technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) required; prior emergency or specialty hospital experience is required.
  • Commitment to values and work environment: dedication to diversity, respect, teamwork, and continuous learning, with the ability to work reliably during overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
