We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Clinical Manager to lead our Internal Medicine service. This role is ideal for a licensed or experienced veterinary technician who is passionate about patient care, team leadership, and advancing clinical excellence. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the Internal Medicine service, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient care
- Supervise, mentor, and support veterinary technicians and assistants, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment
- Manage staffing levels, scheduling, timecards, and on-call coverage to ensure optimal service operations
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and conduct regular employee reviews in alignment with hospital standards
- Develop, implement, and support training programs, including technician skill development and leveling systems
- Collaborate with the Head of Internal Medicine and Technician Manager to improve workflow, caseload management, and team morale
- Address employee concerns professionally and constructively, holding team members accountable to established standards
- Maintain clear and effective communication across departments and with the broader veterinary community
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, DEA) and support development of SOPs for consistent, safe, and efficient practices
- Coordinate with HR and leadership on onboarding, performance management, staffing needs, and employee relations
- Organize and maintain service logistics, including PTO tracking, scheduling, and internal communication channels
- Lead and facilitate regular team and departmental meetings
- Represent the hospital at community events, conferences, and recruiting initiatives as needed
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to hospital-wide leadership efforts
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or actively pursuing licensure required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in veterinary medicine; specialty experience preferred
- Prior leadership or management experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to support and guide team members effectively
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven ability to manage time, prioritize tasks, and lead in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a supportive and respectful culture
- Experience with Internal Medicine procedures and advanced clinical skills preferred
- Specialty certification (VTS – Internal Medicine) is a plus
