Under the general direction of the Recreation Program Manager, responsible for coordinating, instructing, and leading a variety of special events and programs for Seniors (60 ) for the Recreation Division, Parks & Recreation Department. This position is responsible for the production of monthly and annual marketing materials for the Senior Programs.

Job Responsibility
Supervisory responsibilities: directs workflow of permanent, temporary, seasonal, volunteers; experiences many minor problems daily, with an occasional major one that must be resolved on own initiative with little immediate supervision; the consequences of error, carelessness or mistaken judgment require normal effort to recover.
Work Environment
Works in various recreational facilities where conditions are pleasant; good, clean conditions with minor accident probability while in field; requires short periods of heavy lifting, pushing or pulling (over 50 lbs.).
This position falls under the Borough’s Blood Borne Pathogen (BBP) Exposure Control Program as it is reasonably anticipated that infrequent exposure to blood or other bodily fluids may occur while performing some job duties.

Typical Duties
- Provide on-site technical direction of work production to lower-level positions.
- Plan, organize, and implement all ongoing and new special events and recreational programs for Seniors.
- Coordinate community events and sponsorships with local businesses, organizations, and agencies.
- Organize and lead indoor/outdoor recreation activities for Seniors.
- Develop and coordinate marketing materials for programs and events.
- Responsible for equipment procurement, maintenance, inventory, and use for programs and events.
- Ensure a safe and fun environment for program and event participants.
- Register participants and communicate with participants and organizations concerning programs and events.
- Act as a point of contact during special events.
- Maintain participation data. Prepare monthly attendance and activity reports as required.
- Perform first aid procedures as appropriate for the situation.
- Drive paratransit van for pickup of participants as needed. Work with participants and care providers to arrange pick-up and drop-off times.
- Recognize emergency situations and react in a professional manner to provide guidance while maintaining participant confidentiality.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s degree in Recreation, Marketing, Gerontology, Therapeutic Recreation, education or any related field preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of direct program experience required. Direct experience with seniors preferred.
- Minimum of six (6) months' supervisory experience required.
- Demonstrated recent proficiency in personal computer applications. Proficiency in Word and Excel required preferred experience with Access, Publisher or other desktop publishing software, and Outlook.
- Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license. Must meet insurance standards and maintain insurability under the Borough's insurance program. If personal automobile is used for Borough business, proof of automobile insurance at statutory limits must be provided. (A CURRENT COPY OF DRIVING RECORD WILL BE REQUIRED UPON REQUEST.)
- Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively with participants, caregivers, and agencies within the community.
- Knowledge of methods and practices of group organization and instruction used in specialty activities.
- Must be able to achieve Standard First Aid, Adult and Child CPR, and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications as recognized by the American Red Cross (or equivalent) within three (3) months of hire.
- Ability to address public complaints, media inquiries, and user groups, as well as interact tactfully, courteously, and harmoniously with the general public, private sector businesses, civic organizations, special interest groups, and other government officials in a responsive and professional manner.
- A PROFICIENCY TEST MAY BE ADMINISTERED.
- This position requires a criminal background investigation and fingerprinting.
