What are the responsibilities and job description for the Professional Surveyor/Development Review Services position at Pasco County?
- Supervises and evaluates the performance of geodetic mapping and clerical personnel.
- Develops and maintains excellent business relationships with other departments.
- Prepares and reviews survey drawings.
- Reviews legal descriptions and provides supporting documentation required for legal action.
- Performs calculations of geometric problems and reviews calculations of subordinate personnel.
- Reviews subdivision plats and facilitates the process for recording.
- Reviews and makes recommendations for subdivision restrictions and homeowners' association documents.
- Drafts proposed ordinances and assists in the development of new land development ordinances.
- Signs and seals subdivision plats.
- Writes letters of deficiencies and agendas for subdivisions.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
- Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge and involvement of GPS with applications.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying.
- Knowledge of materials, methods and techniques of land surveying.
- Knowledge of Surveying and Mapping related Florida Statutes, Laws, Florida Administrative Codes, Requirements, Procedures, etc.
- Knowledge of legal descriptions.
- Knowledge of database structure.
- Knowledge of basic management principles.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering and survey plans, plats, and profiles.
- Ability to prepare and submit clear and precise technical drawings.
- Ability to operate surveying instruments, reduce and plot field notes, and make computations.
- Ability to plan data structures for long-term use.
- Ability to operate computer applications to include CAD, coordinate geometry, and Word processing programs.
- Ability to meet and effectively deal with the public, officials, builders, developers, and civic associations.
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Requires walking, stooping, and bending. Requires working outdoors and indoors.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or other closely related field and six (6) years' experience as a registered land surveyor OR an Associate degree and eight (8) years' experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Registration as a Land Surveyor in the State of Florida required.
