The Keep Pasco Beautiful Program Coordinator is responsible for the development and coordination of sustainable programs with the local Keep America Beautiful affiliate known as Keep Pasco Beautiful (KPB). This position manages all aspects of KPB and serves as a liaison between the County and KPB; promoting the programs of both. The position works with the KPB Board of Directors to create and implement the organization’s strategic plan. It involves coordinating countywide litter cleanups and overseeing the established Pasco County Adopt-a-Road program. This position acquires funding through sponsorships, applying for and procuring grants, and establishing community and business partnerships. This position is responsible for maintaining an affiliate-in-good-standing status with Keep America Beautiful and completing all requirements to maintain 501(c)3 status.
Essential Job Functions
- Makes public presentations to various group sizes for the purpose of educating and motivating the County's business community, nonprofit organizations, and residents to participate in sustainable activities.
- Writes press releases, develops social media content, and maintains website with current initiatives and sustainable best practices.
- Arranges for materials and equipment to support cleanup events and programs.
- Manages volunteer groups and volunteer activities.
- Develops relationships that support and promote the KPB mission and that of the Department of Public Works.
- Grant writing and grant procurement skills necessary.
- Develops outreach and educational programs and materials for the purpose of education on illicit discharge and sustainable initiatives.
- Works with related agencies, county departments, and non-profits on program materials and activities with an emphasis on collaboration and avoiding duplication.
- Supervises all KPB event components including logistics, sponsors, and marketing.
- Develops budget for KPB and administers all KPB finances.
- Works to enhance, develop and strengthen the viability of KPB.
- Requires ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects.
- Ability to lift and carry, as required in loading, unloading and setting up exhibit displays.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
- Proficiency in using personal computers and word-processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
- Knowledge with data management systems required.
- Knowledge of social media use is necessary.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read for comprehension and analysis.
- Ability to create, organize and present materials in an effective manner necessary.
- Marketing and promotion experience helpful.
- General working knowledge of best sustainable practices is helpful.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with state, county and local agencies, developers, community leaders and the public is necessary.
Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Ability to work outdoors. Ability to lift and carry, as required in loading, unloading and setting up exhibit displays.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in marketing and communications, business, sustainability or a related field and two (2) years of professional experience in non-profit management OR an Associate degree and four (4) years of experience. Grant procurement experience preferred. Experience with fund-raising, event coordination and working with volunteers preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work a flexible schedule, which may include occasional night, weekend or overnight travel.
