Technical work involving the gathering and updating of condition assessment and inventory data for stormwater infrastructure.
Essential Job Functions
- Performs condition assessments of stormwater drainage systems to gather data on performance defects and obstruction that adversely impact stormwater conveyance.
- Operates specialized electronic equipment that collects and transmits condition assessment data for stormwater drainage systems.
- Operates specialized software that stores and processes condition assessment data for stormwater drainage systems.
- Prepares technical diagnostic reports, generates service requests to initiate maintenance activities, and provide recommendations to resolve pipeline issues.
- Performs work site safety responsibilities including but not limited to Maintenance of Traffic (MOT), confined space entry, Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards, and proper operation of all assigned equipment and vehicles.
- Keeps up-to-date with the latest trends in pipeline inspection software and equipment.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to review construction plans, schematics, and permits.
- Ability to perform visual inspections to identify faults, damage, corrosion, or leaks in pipelines.
- Ability to use electronic equipment such as closed circuity television (CCTV) vehicle, and software systems to assist in pipeline inspections and assessments.
- Ability to identify and present causes of pipeline faults.
- Ability to document assessment results in writing and through photographs or video recordings.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement
- Ability to recommend repair, maintenance, and mitigation solutions for compromised pipelines, orally or in writing.
- Knowledge of both traffic and safety rules as well as knowledge of application precautions to be taken to avoid accidents.
- Knowledge of the practices and techniques applied to the safe operation of specialized equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow both oral and written instructions.
- Ability to give instructions and make necessary reports.
- Skill in minor maintenance of assigned equipment.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and the public.
Minimum Requirements
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to read for comprehension. Ability to communicate effectively using oral, written and visual communication. Ability to frequently bend, climb, stoop, squat, and walk. Ability to work for long hours, out-of-doors, and occasionally under adverse weather conditions.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Four (4) years of experience in utilities/solid waste and/or public works maintenance and/or construction, which includes two (2) years of experience in the operation of a variety of heavy and complex construction and/or maintenance equipment.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License, Class B with Air Brakes.
