Position Overview

Partnership Schools is accepting applications for an Early Childhood Teaching Assistant at Holy Name and Metro Catholic Schools The Teaching Assistant works under the direction of the Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher to create a safe, nurturing, structured, and joyful classroom in which young children can grow academically, physically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.

We seek candidates who share an unwavering belief in the potential of every child and who demonstrate an appreciation for Catholic culture, identity, and values. Teaching Assistants receive coaching and feedback from the lead teacher and school-site leadership and participate in required professional learning.

Primary Responsibilities

Support the lead teacher in implementing daily lessons, learning centers, routines, transitions, and developmentally appropriate activities.

Help maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that meets students' intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.

Provide active supervision and share responsibility for the care, safety, and well-being of students at all times, including arrival, dismissal, meals, rest periods, recess, and transitions.

Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce instruction, language development, early literacy, early numeracy, and social-emotional skills.

Assist with classroom preparation, organization, sanitation, and the setup and cleanup of instructional materials and learning spaces.

Support age-appropriate personal care and hygiene routines in accordance with school policy and licensing requirements.

Observe students and assist the lead teacher with documentation, developmental portfolios, attendance records, incident reports, and other required records.

Communicate with families in a consistent, positive, respectful, and confidential manner, following the direction of the lead teacher and school leadership.

Collaborate with colleagues, participate in required meetings and professional development, and respond constructively to coaching and feedback.

Follow all Partnership Schools policies and applicable Ohio preschool licensing, health, safety, supervision, confidentiality, and staff-to-child ratio requirements.

Fulfill the school's mission to educate the whole child: mind, body, and spirit; and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Respect for and appreciation of the Catholic faith and Catholic education.

High school diploma or equivalent; coursework or experience in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is preferred.

Ability to meet all applicable Ohio requirements for employment as a child care staff member.

Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the day, including sitting on the floor, standing, walking, bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements Upon Hire

Pass all background-check clearances required by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth/ODJFS and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce licensing authorities.
