RN Assistant Nursing Services Director

We are a Long-Term Care Management Company seeking a dedicated, highly organized, and clinical-minded Assistant Nursing Services Director to join our clinical leadership team. The Assistant Nursing Services Director position oversees our assisted living, specialty care sites (secure dementia units), and 245D homes through-out Minnesota. Detailed knowledge of MN assisted living license requirements is a must. Experience in long term care and management are required. Teaching, travel and on-call duties are required.

Key Duties:

• Develops and implements philosophy, policies, objectives and procedures for Nursing Services. Maintains an up to date policy and procedure manual.
• Develops pharmaceutical and infection control procedures along with RN team members.
• Organizes Nursing functions based on needs, objectives and work patterns, and assigns tasks to persons capable of performing them.
• Working with the Education RN develops, updates, maintains and reviews content and structure of Home Health Aide (HHA) training to ensure State and County requirements are met. Ensure HHA training is consistent throughout PSLO facilities including audits.
• Determines the numbers of professional and non-professional team members necessary to meet the nursing care needs of the residents.
• Performs case management in the absence of the Regional RN
• Participates in resident selection and in developing and implementing care policies and other assisted living policies.
• Assists nurses and supports the nursing practice which includes:
• Assessing the residents’ health status and nursing needs.
• Planning nursing actions and implementing those actions.
• Evaluating the outcome of action taken (which dictates reassessment and re-planning).
• Utilize concepts of health maintenance and rehabilitation in teaching and counseling residents and families.
• Promotes harmonious relationships within and outside the facility.
• Participates in established inter-intra managerial systems of communication for effective reporting of activities to the site Manager, Regional Representative, Director of Operations and to personnel: promotes two-way communication with team members
• Directs all aspects of Nursing Service personnel administration from hiring to termination of RNs.
• Evaluates the performance appraisal of the Licensed personnel.
• Identifies and implements Nursing Services team development needs.
• Maintains compliance of the Nursing Department with all applicable licensure, accreditation, and other standards. Prepares appropriate documentation and regularly reports to the Nursing Services Director.
• Establishes and evaluates standards of nursing practice with active participation of other Registered Nurses.
• Collaborates and consults with corresponding physicians.
• Maintains accurate and complete medical records related to resident status.
• Delegating and monitoring non-nursing responsibilities to other team members consistent with their training, experience, competence, legal authorization, and with housing with services policy.
• Assuring that a comprehensive plan of care is established and implemented for each resident and that the plan is reviewed at least every 90 days as required.
• Coordinating nursing services for the residents in the assisted living with other resident care services provided both within and outside the site.
• Be included in day time on-call in a rotation for: medical questions, emergencies and the compliancy reporting of new M.D. orders, change in status of resident, falls and med errors. Calls to be handled timely and with kindness. Site RN notification as required by statute on resident concerns as they arise.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Clearance of Minnesota Department of Human Services background study
• Current, unencumbered RN licensure in Minnesota.
• Has three years’ experience in nursing appropriate to the resident population of the care setting.
• Demonstrates a broad knowledge of nursing including gerontological nursing and related aspects, such as rehabilitation and mental health.
• Demonstrates managerial ability and ability to work effectively with others.
• Has an awareness of community resources and health care agencies.
• Has an awareness of standards for compliance with state and county licensing and-federal: certification requirements.
• Has the ability to collaborate with other health care professionals.
• Participates in continuing education in nursing, gerontology, and administration.
• Has computer knowledge and skills.
