Compensation: Up to $30.00 per hour, D.O.E.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Drayage Ocean Freight Associate to join our logistics team in Santa Ana, CA. This position is responsible for managing and coordinating drayage operations, ensuring smooth container movement, timely deliveries, and excellent customer service. The role requires strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of ocean freight forwarding, and the ability to collaborate across multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage the drayage process of shipment movement, including arrival notices, ISF information, delivery orders, and empty container returns.
- Coordinate and maintain relationships with drayage carriers; provide urgent communication and problem-solving in case of capacity issues or delays.
- Develop alternative carrier plans when needed to ensure operational efficiency.
- Share and oversee daily container delivery schedules with drayage partners.
- Track, trace, and analyze shipments with drayage carriers, rail companies, and terminals to ensure on-time performance.
- Drive improvements to customer service metrics such as delivery timeliness, lead times, and responsiveness to quote requests.
- Manage pre-pull yard solutions when necessary to meet deadlines.
- Prepare and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to drayage operations.
- Communicate delivery status updates to customers and document corrective actions as required.
- Perform ad-hoc reporting and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, GED or equivalent accepted.
- 3-4yrs. experience & knowledge of international transportation, particularly ocean freight and drayage operations.
- Proven experience in transportation planning to optimize cost, time, and capacity.
- Skilled in project and people management with the ability to balance priorities.
- Data-driven with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and related logistics applications.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and urgent issues without falling behind on ongoing tasks
