About the Opportunity
We are seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to lead all aspects of a growing distribution facility that includes both ambient and temperature-controlled storage. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence across warehouse operations, inventory management, customer service, safety, workforce development, and financial performance.
As the senior leader onsite, you will play a critical role in building a high-performing operation while ensuring exceptional service delivery and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Direct and oversee all warehouse activities, including receiving, storage, replenishment, order fulfillment, packing, and shipping.
- Ensure efficient operations across both ambient and temperature-controlled environments while maintaining product quality and compliance standards.
- Develop and implement process improvements that enhance productivity, accuracy, and service levels.
- Partner with maintenance and facilities teams to ensure equipment, refrigeration systems, and warehouse infrastructure remain fully operational.
Inventory Control & Quality Assurance
- Maintain industry-leading inventory accuracy through cycle counting, process discipline, and root-cause analysis.
- Manage inventory flow, slotting strategies, replenishment processes, and discrepancy resolution.
- Monitor operational quality standards and ensure customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
- Identify opportunities to reduce shrink and improve inventory visibility.
Team Development & Performance Management
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop warehouse associates, team leads, and supervisors.
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures across all shifts.
- Promote a positive, team-oriented culture focused on safety, ownership, consistency, and continuous improvement.
- Manage labor planning and staffing levels to support operational demands and productivity goals.
Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Champion a safety-first culture throughout the facility.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
- Conduct routine safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Maintain safe operating practices for equipment, material handling, and temperature-controlled environments.
Customer & Logistics Management
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for customers.
- Provide timely communication, operational updates, and issue resolution.
- Manage carrier relationships, dock scheduling, transportation coordination, and yard activities.
- Drive on-time shipping performance while minimizing delays and detention costs.
Financial & Business Performance
- Maintain ownership of facility financial performance, including labor, operating expenses, supplies, utilities, and productivity metrics.
- Develop and manage budgets while identifying opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
- Analyze KPIs and operational data to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Drive performance improvements that positively impact customer satisfaction and profitability.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of warehouse operations leadership experience; 3PL experience preferred.
- Proven success leading teams in a high-volume distribution or fulfillment environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse management systems (WMS), RF technology, and inventory control processes.
- Experience managing operational budgets, labor planning, and performance metrics.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and team-building skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and warehouse safety practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating facilities with both ambient and temperature-controlled storage.
- Background in food distribution, cold-chain logistics, retail distribution, or high-SKU operations.
- HACCP certification, forklift certification, or other warehouse-related credentials.
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
