Human Resource Generalist

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Benefits Communication Associate to support our Benefits team . This role will focus on health and welfare and retirement benefits communications, helping ensure employees receive clear, accurate, and engaging information about their benefit programs.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer who can simplify complex benefits information, manage multiple communication projects, and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with benefits or HR communications experience who enjoys creating organized, employee-friendly communication strategies.

This role is a long term contract position with chance of extensions. Hours are Hybrid Mon- Fri 8am to 5pm ( 1 day remote)

Key Responsibilities

Plan Documents & Policies

· Assist with updating Health & Welfare Plan Documents to reflect current plan provisions.

· Update Long-Term Disability Plan Documents and Short-Term Disability policies.

· Draft and develop additional benefits-related policies as needed.

· Track document revisions and changes throughout the review process.

· Coordinate reviews with internal stakeholders and external vendors.

· Maintain organized and current versions of all finalized documents.

Vendor Communications Review

· Review employee communications distributed by benefits vendors for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with company benefit plans.

· Identify errors, inconsistencies, or areas requiring clarification and coordinate corrections with vendors.

· Maintain a comprehensive inventory of vendor communications and distribution schedules.

Communications Planning & Development

· Develop a comprehensive 2027 Benefits Communications Plan, including communication calendars, key messaging, target audiences, and delivery channels.

· Create communications for HR Business Partners, managers, and other internal stakeholders.

· Draft and coordinate quarterly benefits communications for employees.

· Develop a "Welcome to the Benefits Team" guide outlining company benefits programs and resources.

· Ensure all communications align with company branding standards and benefit plan documentation.

· Support efforts to improve employee understanding and engagement with benefit offerings.

Qualifications

Required

· 2 years of experience in benefits communications, HR communications, or a related field.

· Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

· Working knowledge of employee benefits programs, including:

o Medical

o Dental

o Vision

o Life Insurance

o Disability Benefits

o Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

o Health Savings Accounts (HSA)

o 401(k) plans

· Ability to interpret technical or legal information and communicate it in clear, employee-friendly language.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred

· Bachelor's degree in Communications, Human Resources, English, or a related discipline.

· Experience reviewing or updating ERISA plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), and disability policies.

· Experience developing communication plans and communication calendars.

· Familiarity with ERISA, ACA, and other employee benefits compliance requirements.

· Experience using design tools such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to create employee-facing materials.
