Partners In Home Care (PIHC), is seeking a dedicated and motivated Philanthropy & Community Engagement Specialist to join our team!



Position Summary

The Philanthropy & Community Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing comprehensive fundraising initiatives that support the mission of Partners In Home Care. This position cultivates relationships with donors, foundations, businesses, and community partners to secure financial support through individual giving, planned giving, grants, corporate sponsorships, and special events. The Philanthropy & Community Engagement Specialist serves as an ambassador for the organization by educating the community about charitable giving opportunities, including tax-advantaged and planned giving strategies, while promoting awareness of the organization's mission and impact.

 

This position also collaborates with Business Development on community outreach events, health fairs, educational opportunities, and strategic initiatives that enhance community visibility and philanthropic support.


Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Typically Monday-Friday, with flexibility for occasional evenings/weekends as needed to support staffing and event needs.

Location: Based out of our main office located in Missoula, MT, may require travel to other counties within our service area. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Fundraising & Donor Development

  • Develop and implement annual fundraising plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Build long-term relationships with major donors and prospective philanthropic partners.
  • Conduct donor visits, presentations, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Manage annual giving campaigns and special fundraising initiatives.
  • Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities.

Planned & Tax-Advantaged Giving

  • Educate donors, financial advisors, attorneys, and community members regarding planned giving opportunities, including:
    • Charitable Bequests
    • Charitable Gift Annuities
    • Donor-Advised Funds
    • Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs)
    • IRA charitable rollovers
    • Appreciated stock and asset donations
  • Coordinate with legal and financial professionals to facilitate complex charitable gifts.
  • Promote legacy giving through educational seminars and community outreach.

Grant Management

  • Research local, regional, state, and national grant opportunities.
  • Prepare compelling grant proposals and supporting documentation.
  • Manage grant submission timelines and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor grant expenditures and outcomes.
  • Prepare required grant reports and impact summaries.
  • Maintain relationships with grant funders and foundation representatives.

Donation Management

  • Maintain accurate donor records within the donor management system.
  • Track gifts, pledges, acknowledgments, and donor communications.
  • Ensure timely donor acknowledgments and tax documentation.
  • Monitor fundraising metrics and prepare regular reports for leadership.
  • Assist with annual fundraising budgets and revenue forecasting.

Community Engagement

  • Represent Partners In Home Care at community organizations, civic groups, and networking events.
  • Coordinate community presentations regarding the organization's mission and services.
  • Assist Business Development with:
    • Community awareness events
    • Health fairs
    • Fundraising events
    • Community education programs
    • Volunteer engagement activities
  • Develop partnerships with businesses, service clubs, and nonprofit organizations.

Marketing & Communications

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Business Development to promote fundraising campaigns.
  • Develop donor communications, newsletters, impact stories, and annual reports.
  • Assist with social media and digital fundraising initiatives.
  • Support organizational storytelling by highlighting donor impact and patient success stories.

Strategic Planning

  • Participate in organizational strategic planning related to philanthropy and community engagement.
  • Recommend new fundraising strategies and revenue opportunities.
  • Monitor fundraising trends and best practices.
  • Assist leadership with Foundation and philanthropic board activities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, Nonprofit Management, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.



Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible fundraising or nonprofit development experience.
  • Demonstrated success securing major gifts and grants.
  • Experience managing donor databases and CRM systems (i.e..  Donor View, Constant Contact).
  • Experience organizing fundraising or community events preferred.
  • Healthcare or nonprofit experience is strongly preferred.
