PROGRAM: Tūtū and Me

REPORTS TO: Site Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

Work in a team to support the developmental needs and progress of keiki and caregivers with regular assessments, screenings, caregiver education, and resources that promote optimal early learning experiences for a Family Child Interaction Learning (FCIL) program.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Model, teach and engage with enrolled families in a professional manner that encourages caregivers to be their keikiʻs first and foremost teacher;
  • Administer, monitor, document and report on assessment instruments used for caregivers and keiki at the program;
  • Observe, document and track the development and growth of keiki in a regular and timely manner;
  • Work closely with the teaching team to ensure monthly lesson plans meet the developmental needs of keiki enrolled at sites;
  • Identify participants with special needs and work closely with the family in recommending community services/agencies;
  • Manage and disseminate caregiver resources for at-home learning;
  • Develop daily work routines that support productive and positive team dynamics;
  • Participate in regular briefings with the Site Manager to discuss program updates, challenges, and proposed solutions;
  • Drive assigned company vehicles in a safe and legal manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field and six (6) months of experience working with young keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field and one (1) year of supervised experience working with young keiki ages birth through five and their families; OR
  • Current Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential and one (1) year of supervised experience working with keiki ages birth through five and their families;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva publishing and virtual meeting platforms;
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a safe and responsible driving record.

PREFERRED:

  • Six (6) months of experience using assessment and screening tools;
  • Understanding of developmental screenings and assessments; preference with ECE instruments such as ASQ, and PPVT;
  • Familiarity with databases such as QuickBase;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values.

WORK HOURS:

  • A 10-month work schedule that closely aligns with the Hawai'i Department of Education's paid leave calendar;
  • Monday through Friday, hours vary by site and are determined by the Site Manager;
  • Consistent and reliable attendance;
  • Some events and professional development may take place on evenings or weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Program mobile sites in locations such as community centers, schools or churches, various event sites, meeting and professional development sites;
  • Office setting;
  • Travel in program vehicle to and from program site;
  • Travel to the neighbor islands and continental U.S. may be required.

EMPLOYMENT CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education verification, State criminal check, State and national sex registry clearance.
