Responsibilities:
- Supervise Human resources staff including approval of semi-monthly timecards and issuance of performance appraisals for the HR team.
- Serve as Liaison to PEO.
- Manage recruitment and hiring process: including internal and external job postings, initial candidate screening and pre-employment testing clearances.
- Prepares necessary forms for new hires, current employee status changes, annual merits, terminations and exit interviews. Maintain complete and accurate personnel files.
- Coordinate timely agency orientation for new hires.
- Back up to payroll.
- Maintain company database with current employee personal and salary information.
- Partner with and advise the management team, supervisors, and employees regarding policies, procedures and applicable HR laws.
- Coach Supervisors on employee performance issues and documentation for disciplinary process.
- Support Organizational Development, Culture Building and Agency Planning processes under CEO and in collaboration with the Administrative Team.
- Oversee and manage under limited supervision all Human Resource matters to support and provide continuous alignment with the agency’s strategies, goals and objectives.
- In consultation with the PEO, investigates employee complaints of discrimination, harassment or other grievance.
- Coordinate legally mandated leaves (FMLA, PDL and Workers Compensation)
- Provide all documentation to auditors internal and external.
- Create and facilitate training staff training.
- Create career paths within current positions for employee development.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration or related field required.
Ten years of relevant experience as a generalist required.
- Minimum of five years of experience supervising an HR team required.
- Training and experience with software systems preferred.
- Strong initiative and clear collaborative skills.
- Ability to work effectively under time and workload pressures.
- Unfailing ability to manage confidential information.
- Familiarity with Excel and other skills needed to effectively use computers to maintain foundation databases.
- Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to relate well with internal and external customers, and have a strong commitment to quality service.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to carry out assignments on special events and projects.
- Access to transportation for occasional meetings and activities at outside locations. Valid California driver's license and proof of auto insurance in the amount of $5,000 property damage and $15,000/$30,000 bodily injury.
This position is required to be in office at our San Fernando office 4 days per week.
