Partners in Abortion Care is an all-trimester abortion clinic located in College Park, Maryland. Purpose:

Partners in Abortion Care is seeking a PRN/per diem nurse who understands the complicated intersections of a patient’s life and experiences that may lead to having an abortion. The ideal candidate for this position is compassionate, pro-choice, patient, and excited to be part of a new, rapidly growing, and fast-paced organization.

Typical work hours are Tuesday - Friday from 8:45am until patient care is complete for the day. PRN staff members must work a minimum of 1 shift q60 days. 

An ideal candidate has prior experience in later abortion care.

This position is part of the SEIU 1199 bargaining unit. The selected candidate will be subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the collective bargaining agreement between Partners in Abortion Care LLC and SEIU 1199. Membership in the union and payment of union fees is required upon hiring. We offer competitive wages and benefits as negotiated under the collective bargaining agreement. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assessment of patients before, during, and after abortion procedures
• Dispensing medications, P.O. IV, sublingual
• Familiarity with EHR systems
• Obtaining complete medical health history from all patients
• Providing IV sedation under the direction of the Medical Director
• Setting up and breaking down procedures rooms as needed
• Delegation of responsibilities to other health care professionals, i.e., medical assistants
• Follow-up contact with patients after their procedure
• Obtaining vital signs
• Blood draws and IV line placement
• Assisting physicians in the care of patients
• Quality assurance and improvement projects as assigned
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Active registered nurse license in Maryland or compact license
• Previous outpatient OB/GYN experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience as a registered nurse required
• BLS & ACLS required
• Second language proficiency strongly preferred
• Experience working directly with midwives/advanced practice nurses
• Experience with trauma-informed care preferred
• Experience with IV sedation preferred
• Experience with ultrasonography preferred

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50 lbs, and stand for extended periods of time.

Partners in Abortion Care requests per diem staff work at least one shift per 90 days to maintain active per diem status. We are currently seeking a candidate who is typically available for at least one shift per week for at least their first 3 months of employment.
