24 Hour FTE / Two 12 hour shifts
PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB DESCRIPTION:
The primary purpose of your job is to document all physician interactions with patients, families and other caregivers; document all history, system reviews and physical exam finding; and document all medical decision making in accordance to applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations and established policies and procedures as directed.
DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY:
As an unlicensed employee under the supervision of the Medical Director of the Emergency Department, you are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENT / DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Have a working knowledge of medical Terminology.
Demonstrate excellent penmanship and documentation skills.
Communicate with staff and patients effectively.
Ensure that all documents are completed and signed by the employer by the end of his/her shift.
Document all physician interactions with patients, families, and interactions with other caregivers.
Document all history, review of systems, and physical exam findings the physician relates to you or the patient.
Medical decision making as laid out by the physician.
Facilitate the organization of Lab and X-ray results for the physician.
Facilitate obtaining procedure materials such as splints, laceration repair kits, etc.
Stocks ENT carts, Laceration carts, and room cabinets as needed
Communicate and interact with the patients and families to the extent of:
Providing physical care items such as food, warm blankets, ice, and visitors when appropriate.
Updating the patient/families as to the status of their work-up and wait times.
Under no circumstances shall the Medical Scribe:
Discuss or interpret lab and X-ray results with the patient or family.
Touch or examine the patient in a clinical manner.
Enter orders for physicians and practitioners.
Other requirements:

Works within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standards.
Meets attendance and punctuality standards.

Qualifications
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
• High school graduate
EXPERIENCE:
• One year of experience with medical terminology and/or other Emergency medical department functions required.
• Prior EMT, Pre-Med, Medical Assistant, and/or medical training preferred
