Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our accounting team (US & Canada). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in American accounting principles and practices, with a focus on Accounts Payable, Bank Feeds, General Ledger reconciliation and Financial Reporting. Canadian accounting experience would be a plus. This role requires excellent analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data. Reports to the Financial Controller.
Duties
- Perform general ledger accounting and reconciliation to ensure accurate financial records.
- Oversee accounts payable processes, ensuring timely payment and collections.
- Conduct account reconciliations to maintain accurate balances across all accounts.
- Manage bank accounts and credit cards to ensure cash/credit availabilities and timely currency conversions.
- Manage fixed assets and process month-end close.
- Preparation of all American and Canadian monthly, quarterly, annual tax returns, or other governmental reporting with guidance from management.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, providing insights for management decision-making.
- Utilize QuickBooks software for financial reporting and data management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance financial processes and reporting accuracy.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and compliance matters.
- Assist in budgeting processes and forecasts to support strategic planning.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to work in the company office Monday - Friday.
- American Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Canadian accounting degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in general ledger reconciliation and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting principles and practices.
- Experience with accounts payable management and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks.
- Ability to forecast financial outcomes based on historical data and trends.
- Excellent technical accounting skills with a strong understanding of relevant regulations.
- High level of financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex data sets effectively.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines.
