Job Description
Parsons is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering (Transportation) Intern to join our Centreville office for Summer 2026. In this role, you will contribute to large-scale engineering projects and gain practical experience in areas such as highway and roadway design, bridge structures, transportation planning, traffic simulations, signal design, critical infrastructure, drainage, and traffic control during construction.

Job Description
Parsons is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering (Transportation) Intern to join our Centreville office for Summer 2026. In this role, you will contribute to large-scale engineering projects and gain practical experience in areas such as highway and roadway design, bridge structures, transportation planning, traffic simulations, signal design, critical infrastructure, drainage, and traffic control during construction.
What You’ll Will Be Doing
- Prepare construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Assist with project calculations and design tasks
- Perform material quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and field surveys as required.
- Use design software and CAE/CAD applications to develop and implement project designs.
- Provide technical guidance and input to CAD drafters, designers, and other engineers working on the project team.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support project delivery.
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in mechanical engineering
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Prior transportation or infrastructure engineering internship experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and leadership skills
- Eager to learn, self-motivated, and flexible
- Excellent organizational and management skills
- Working knowledge of CAD software, such as AutoCAD and Microstation is a plus
