What are the responsibilities and job description for the Video Editor position at Parralux?
Location: Hybrid
Company: Parralux
Reports To: Creative Director and Head of Post-Production
Experience Level: Mid-Level to Senior
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Based on experience
Parralux is seeking a highly creative, organized, and technically strong Video Editor to join our team in a hybrid role. This position is ideal for someone who does not simply assemble footage, but who understands how to shape a story, support a message, and think like a producer throughout the editorial process.
Our work spans TV shows, commercials, marketing and advertising content, internal and external corporate communications, and short-form social content derived from longer-form video assets. The right candidate will know how to craft compelling stories in varying lengths and formats, while maintaining strong visual quality, editorial consistency, and an efficient post-production workflow.
This editor will work closely with the Creative Director and Head of Post-Production, and should be comfortable collaborating within a team environment where projects may evolve, shift hands, or require structured revision rounds.
- Edit a wide range of video content including commercials, branded content, corporate communications, internal messaging, social media content, and short-form cutdowns.
- Shape clear, engaging stories from raw footage with a strong understanding of pacing, tone, messaging, and audience.
- Approach each project with a producer’s mindset by helping identify the strongest narrative structure, best soundbites, and most effective way to communicate the intended message.
- Create multiple content versions and runtimes depending on campaign needs, platform requirements, or audience targets.
- Pull short-form social media assets from longer-form interviews, events, branded videos, and corporate pieces.
- Edit primarily in Adobe Premiere Pro with confidence and speed.
- Use DaVinci Resolve for color-related workflows as needed, with a strong understanding of color correction and color grading.
- Color correct footage to ensure consistency, balance, and polished image quality across projects.
- Apply color grading when appropriate to elevate the creative tone and visual finish of a piece.
- Handle basic to advanced audio editing, including dialogue cleanup, leveling, syncing, music balancing, and preparing projects for final mix when needed.
- Incorporate pre-produced motion graphics, music, stock, and other media elements when appropriate to support story and pacing.
- Build clean, well-organized project files that allow revisions to be handled efficiently and projects to be easily passed between editors or up to the Head of Post-Production for final finishing.
- Maintain strong folder structures, naming conventions, sequence organization, asset management, and version control across all assignments.
- Prepare projects in a way that supports collaboration, scalability, and future retrieval.
- Ensure timelines are structured logically and professionally, with attention to handoff readiness.
- Work directly with the Creative Director and Head of Post-Production to execute creative vision while maintaining technical excellence.
- Participate in internal review processes, respond well to feedback, and revise efficiently.
- Contribute editorial insight during project development when appropriate, especially in identifying story opportunities and improving clarity of message.
- Proven experience editing professional video content for marketing, advertising, corporate communications, and social media.
- Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Strong working knowledge of DaVinci Resolve.
- Strong understanding of color science, color correction workflows, and grading fundamentals.
- Strong understanding of audio editing and best practices for dialogue, music, and overall sound polish.
- Excellent storytelling instincts with the ability to edit content in different styles, tones, and runtimes.
- Strong organizational skills with a clear, professional approach to project setup and post workflow.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
The ideal candidate is someone who:
- Thinks beyond the timeline and understands the bigger creative objective.
- Can find the story, not just edit the footage.
- Knows how to make content work across long-form and short-form deliverables.
- Has strong technical instincts and takes pride in delivering polished, organized work.
- Can balance creativity with structure, speed, and collaboration.
- Understands that a great edit is not only creative, but also clear, strategic, and easy for a team to build on.
This is a hybrid position. The editor will split time between remote work and in-person collaboration as needed. Because this role works closely with the Creative Director and Head of Post-Production, the ideal candidate should be comfortable in a collaborative environment and available for in-person review sessions, team working sessions, and project handoffs when required.
Parralux creates thoughtful, high-quality content for brands and organizations that need strong creative, clear communication, and polished execution. We value people who are collaborative, proactive, organized, and passionate about making work better - both creatively and operationally.
This is an opportunity to join a team where your editorial voice matters, your storytelling instincts are valued, and your ability to think strategically in post-production will have a direct impact on the final product.
- Delivering edits that are both creatively strong and strategically effective
- Keeping projects organized enough that anyone on the team can jump in when needed
- Turning long-form content into concise, engaging short-form pieces
- Elevating footage through thoughtful color and sound work
- Being dependable, detail-oriented, and collaborative throughout the post process
