Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to provide administrative and legal support to our attorneys and paralegals. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a plaintiff’s personal injury firm, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist attorneys and paralegals with case management from intake through settlement or trial.
• Draft, edit, and format correspondence, pleadings, discovery demands, and legal documents.
• Communicate with clients, insurance adjusters, and medical offices to obtain records and updates.
• Schedule depositions, IMEs, court appearances, and maintain attorney calendars.
• Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Manage mail, scanning, e-filing (NYSCEF), and court document submissions.
• Provide general administrative support including answering phones, filing, and client intake assistance.
Qualifications
• 3 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in personal injury or litigation.
• Strong knowledge of New York State court procedures and familiarity with NYSCEF e-filing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and case management software (SmartAdvocate, Needles, or TrialWorks preferred).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a proactive work ethic.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish — strongly preferred.
