Kennel Technician

Job requirements:

Animal Care and Handling

• Feeding and Watering - reliably provide animals with food and water according to individual needs and feeding schedules.
• Exercise and Playing - taking animals for walks or providing other forms of enrichment to promote physical and emotional well-being of patients in our care.
• Grooming and Bathing: assisting with basic grooming tasks like bathing, brushing and nail trims.
• Monitoring Animal Behavior and Health - observing animals closely for any signs of illness, distress or unusual behavior and reporting concerns to the veterinary staff.
• Administering medications - giving animals basic medications as directed by veterinarians or veterinary staff, following proper procedure and ensuring accurate dosage.
• Restraining Animals - safely and compassionately restraining animals for exams, procedures or transport.

Facility Maintenance

• Cleaning and Sanitizing - maintaining cleanliness of kennels, cages, runs and common areas by cleaning, disinfecting, and following disease control protocols.
• Laundry - cleaning, folding and stocking laundry like towels, blankets and bedding.
• Maintaining Inventory - monitoring and restocking supplies like food, cleaning products and other necessary items.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Must be able to work well with other clinic staff in a positive, dynamic and high-energy environment. Must also demonstrate excellent time-management skills and have the ability to multi-task effectively.

Education: High school or equivalent required.

Experience: 1 year of kennel or animal care work preferred, but not required.

Fear Free training preferred, but not required.

Hours per week: 25-35 hours, variable

Availability: Weekdays, Weekends and Holidays

Activity Level: Moderate to High. Must be able to lift up to 40lbs without assistance.

Remote work is not available for this position.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
